4 tips for using Twitter in health and care

Using Twitter in health and care

Here are out Top Tips for promoting your Health and Care Videos on Twitter so that you can get the most out of this free and widely used tool. To make it even easier for you, we have created a library of tweets we’d be happy for you to use. All you need to do is copy, paste and personalise them.

Tip 1 – Keep content short

The reason Twitter restrict content to 140 characters is so that you quickly make an impression. An eye catching and engaging tweet will make it easier for people to read and to retweet.

Tip 2 – How often to tweet

Most people who are starting out tend to stick to a few tweets per day, so we would recommend between 2-5.

Tip 3 – Why use hashtags?

Hashtags are used to help people to follow a topic or conversation, rather than a person or organisation. If your tweet relates to a particular subject, add a hashtag in front of the keyword.

Tip 4 – Shorten links

As you only have 140 characters to use when tweeting, you don’t want to use them all up on the link to your video.  You can use software such as bitly.com, ow.ly to shorten your links, or can do it within Hootsuite or other applications that you can use to manage your social media activity.
