Thousands of carers in Torbay gain access to support videos

Access to support videos

Who?

There are more than 32,000 people across Torbay and South Devon who support a friend or relative. They may be helping with shopping or meals, attending appointments with them, or just making sure that they are alright. They may be an older couple who do things for each other, a parent carer or young carer. Torbay Carers Service, part of Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, are there to offer support to all these carers.

Why?

Torbay Carers Service are very conscious of the importance of unpaid carers and the challenges that exist for them. They hope that producing these training videos would provide additional support and help to make the carers lives, and the people they care for, a little easier.
Face to face training and support already exists but the idea behind video was to utilise digital technology and enable carers to view the content in the comfort of their own homes.

What?

The 4 videos that Torbay Carer’s Service commissioned can be seen here on the Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust website covering subjects: ‘Looking after yourself’, ‘Stress Management’, ‘The Whole Family Approach’ and ‘Mental Health First Aid’.
