Are you caring for a family member, friend or perhaps a neighbour?

Recent funding from The Innovation in Healthy Ageing Programme* has opened up the opportunity for Health and Care Videos to launch the Devon Digital Carers project.

The aim of the project is to provide you as a carer with key information to support you in your important role.  The rollout to Devon follows on from a successful pilot in Torbay during 2018.

We have produced over 350 health and care videos, accessed through specially designed ‘libraries’ that we will be attaching to 60 care organisations’ websites across Devon.

The videos are designed to be bite sized and easy to understand, ranging from topics such as ‘preventing falls’ and ‘how to communicate with someone who has dementia’ through to ‘caring for yourself as a carer’ and ‘dealing with anxiety’.

There are also links to local resources such as support groups and advice on benefits contained within the video libraries, providing you with a central place to find information to help you.

To find out if an organisation near you is taking part, have a look at the full list of participants and their video libraries.

Would you like to develop your skills?

Perhaps you would like to develop your existing skills further, build on your confidence as a carer or are maybe thinking about finding paid work in the care sector. If so, take a look at our ‘Take 20 Skills for Carers’ online course.

Each of the 20 modules are expected to take around 20 minutes to complete, enough time to grab a coffee and a short break from your normal day to day activities. You will be asked to watch 3 videos per module and answer questions relating to the topic.

Find out more or sign up to the course here.

Course coming May 2019!
